in a dream

I dreamt last night that I was thrown a surprise wedding in which I was the bride, and the identity of the groom wouldn't been known to me until the wedding ceremony itself. It was an intense experience, emotionally—who would I be afraid to see come down the aisle? Who would I say "yes" to? Was the potential to find a lifelong partner worth the vulnerability I felt? Would the groom be someone I already knew but never suspected of any particular fondness for me? Would the "groom" be a woman? For whom am I meant, and who is meant for me?

A bit of a personal question, but are you the type of person who believes in a "One, True Love"? There are two rather different interpretations of that dream based on your answer.

In my dream, the groom turned out to be some guy I didn't know, and so I declined to marry him. I'm interpreting the dream as a reminder to myself not to get too caught up in partnership, or at least not in marriage. (I attended a friend's wedding yesterday, which I'm sure influenced my dreaming last night.)

Oh, that is a really thought-provoking dream. In real life I'd be actively freaking, but dream-Raven doesn't always do what I'd do.

I'd like to tell a story. It's short.

There was a time, in high school, when I had an intense series of dreams about a woman, always my age but strangely also apparently in her early twenties, whom my subconscious said THAT IS THE ONE FOR YOU.

So I'd have this dream a lot in high school, once in a while and less often as I got older. Then around my junior year of college, I met a woman who looked EXACTLY like the dream at a friend's halloween party. We hit it off and started dating that weekend.

It was over two weeks later. I remember it well because she was rooting for Bush in the 2000 election. She had the mentality of a 14 year old.
